I think the worst thing about child labor is that they work for 17 hours and 30 minutes and they get 15 cents per hour for lacing up $100 tennis shoes. Children don’t go to school. Every kid should have the right to go to school.

Great opinion, Dan. I agree with you that it is so unfair that the children have to work for 17 hours and 30 minutes. That to me is like abuse. So i hope that a lot people like Dan come together and help fight child labor.
Yes, I agree with you Dan. I think your reasoning about the long hours that kids do for little money was great. It's unfair that they work on $100 tennis shoes for pennies an hour. Also working for 17 hours and 30 minutes a day.
Dan, it certainly is hard to imagine working for so long and making so little. It doesn't seem fair at all. Children should be in school, just like you said.
During our reading workshop called Stolen Childhoods, we read about the international problem of child labor. We learned about the kind of work children do, what the working conditions are like, and the problems with child labor.
Think about the story of Iqbal Masih. Remember Tariah who picks through rotting trash every day to earn money to help her family. Recall our reading about teen migrant workers picking crops that feed us.
Now using what we learned and what you think, respond to the following question.
What do you think the worst thing is about child labor and why?

Yes, Dan, every child should go to school, get an education, and be able to work a good job and be an active participant in society.
Don't you feel lucky growing up in a place where you can go to school and are taken care of?
